YOU HEARD IT RIGHT. THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE BACK AND THE EARTH IS QUAKING.
Holy mother of Jonas.
At first when I heard the news, I was incredibly excited, but I was never prepared for how I would feel when I actually listened to their new single. Last night, I had just gotten out of a movie and was driving home and saw a post about the song being out (already?? It was on eastern time?? WOW), so I flipped open Spotify, rolled down my windows, and what happened simply cannot be described with the right string of words. About 15 seconds in, I flashed back to being in the backseat of my friend’s car, four of us squished into two seats, singing at the top of our lungs and competing with each other to see who knew the words to all their songs better. Driving down PCH, right after we had gone to their concert the night before, I felt my heart flutter for music that meant so much to me then, music I didn’t realize would still mean so much to me now. They were just three brothers who loved spending time together, making stupid music videos (anyone remember Bounce with Demi Lovato???? Or when they made Joe do the Single Ladies dance??), and writing killer love songs for 12 year olds like me who had absolutely no idea what love was actually like.
The light sprinkle of rain on my windshield as I pulled into my neighborhood last night was an added cinematic experience. And when I got home, it was on to the music video -

The costumes, the cinematography, the plot - all stunningly beautiful.

You all thought Kevin was the underrated one, but THEN you remember there is a youngest Jonas, one that never got to have his own Disney channel movie, one that never got to date Taylor Swift or go on a talk show, but he’s nonetheless self-proclaimed as their rightful #1 fan, and we’re still proud of him. Just look at this cute video he made dancing to his brothers’ song :,)
What’s also amazing is all the content on Instagram - from them and their fans. Left and right I’m seeing photos from 2009 of people proudly holding handmade signs, wearing those fake plastic RayBans, with their dads and moms in the background hiding their pain that their kids can’t yet have their own driver’s licenses.
I’m hearing incredible stories about people who had an asthma attack the first time they saw them in concert, people who cried and screamed and claimed they totally made eye contact once. It’s all incredible, and aren’t we all so glad it’s happening again?? I just hope the deep side part and those shutter shades stay in the past.

I even pulled out my authentic 2009 arm rest. That’s right, when I went to a Jonas Brother’s concert at the Honda Center when I was 12, the arm rest of my seat broke off and I quickly slipped it into my jacket and brought it home with me.
Though the world is still debating whether it’s Joe or Nick that’s the lead of the band, we can all agree that this song is a certified banger, its music video ripped our hearts out (because we realize our biggest ever crushes of our whole lives are all taken by beautiful and powerful women but also because it transported us to 2010 in the best way possible), and 2019 sure is looking good right about now.
